About Scattered Breadcrumbs

Breadcrumbs or a breadcrumb trail is a navigation aid used in user interfaces. It gives users a way to keep track of their locations within programs or documents. The term comes from the trail of breadcrumbs left by Hansel and Gretel in the popular fairytale.

These are my thoughts on topics related to instructional technology, education, photography, and travel. Thanks for stopping by!

Anniversary travels, Part 1 of 2

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Every year the hubby and I try to pick a new travel destination to celebrate our anniversary.

We were married in 2006 in Sedona, Arizona. So while technically this wasn’t really an anniversary trip, it was the first place we visited new together while married!

In 2007, it was my turn to pick a destination (we decided we’d alternate years), and I chose Savannah, Georgia – a new to both of us location.

In 2008, we headed to Boston, Peter’s pick. I had never been, but Peter visited once for a work-related trip. We stayed at a beautiful hotel that featured a Chocolate Buffet and saw a ball game:

In 2009 I decided it was time for us to head somewhere tropical, and we spent a week in Bermuda. I visited once the year before while cruising with Mom and read about amazing cottages on stilts over water. I knew we had to visit!

This year, 2010, we headed to Paradise Island in the Bahamas to stay at Atlantis! This was new for both of us. Well technically, as I had been to Nassau on a cruise once with Mom but only for a few hours. I had never been to Paradise Island though.

In Part 2 I’ll share pictures from our Atlantis adventure!

Reflecting

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Sometimes, when I have a day filled with more downs than ups, it’s easy for me to slip into a grouchy mood. To dwell on the negatives moments of the day and to forget how very fortunate and blessed I really am.

This evening, instead of giving into the urge to further linger on the moments that don’t bring me joy, I chose to revisit a moment that took place four years ago this month.

Looking at these pictures again tonight, playing with them in Lightroom and Photoshop, and reflecting on my every day life with my amazing husband, I am reminded of how happy I really am. At the end of the day, as he often reminds me, it’s family that really matters.

Merry Christmas to all,

Happy Thanksgiving

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Our Ducks were tasty (and cooked – no raw meat this year, yea!), Sweet and Mashed Potatoes were perfect, and I finally found a Stuffing recipe I liked (Thank you, Pioneer Woman!!), and the Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake was to die for – this makes me hungry (again) just thinking about it. We had a wonderful day with my parents and are now settled on the couch watching Charlie Brown and browsing Black Friday deals. I’m extremely excited about the Totally Rad Actions sale – I want to pick up the TRA 2 – The Revenge action set.

I am totally loving my new lens (a Canon EF 28-135mm) and have taken a zillion photos in the past two days – that’s more than I’ve done in a very long time.

This was our first “signature self-portrait” – not bad, huh? It’s quite possible that this might go on our Christmas card this year. I forgot how much I love capturing moments with my camera.

This one came out a little soft but I love it anyway.

I am so thankful for my family.
