Peter and I have been virtually hibernating in our house for the past two days. We were both off from work on Friday because of the snow, and I still wasn’t feeling very well, so we used the time to rest, watch recorded TV and the Olympics, and for me to set up my computer again. So far everything appears to be running well so expect some posts about it to be coming soon.

Today we ventured out of the house to attend the 77th Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography. Peter read about the exhibit in The News Journal last week, and learned of a group who I was not familiar with – the Delaware Photographic Society – they sponsored the exhibit and according to their website, they offer “monthly club competitions, local exhibits, instruction, field trips, lectures and other programs”. I was excited to learn that they meet just down the road from us! I definitely plan on attending a few of their upcoming programs.

My two big photography goals for this year are to:

Become confident in shooting manually instead of in Program or AV mode

Learn how to use flash. I have a nice Canon Speedlite that I definitely have not mastered.

I took this picture of Jasper with my point and shoot this past week. I like it because it’s a different angle than what I usually shoot and as a result produced a completely different image of him than what I usually get. It makes him look much thinner than he actually is which makes me laugh. Too bad I can’t just show pictures of him to the vet instead of getting him weighed each visit.

Our Ducks were tasty (and cooked – no raw meat this year, yea!), Sweet and Mashed Potatoes were perfect, and I finally found a Stuffing recipe I liked (Thank you, Pioneer Woman!!), and the Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake was to die for – this makes me hungry (again) just thinking about it. We had a wonderful day with my parents and are now settled on the couch watching Charlie Brown and browsing Black Friday deals. I’m extremely excited about the Totally Rad Actions sale – I want to pick up the TRA 2 – The Revenge action set.

I am totally loving my new lens (a Canon EF 28-135mm) and have taken a zillion photos in the past two days – that’s more than I’ve done in a very long time.

This was our first “signature self-portrait” – not bad, huh? It’s quite possible that this might go on our Christmas card this year. I forgot how much I love capturing moments with my camera.

This one came out a little soft but I love it anyway.

I am so thankful for my family.
